Federal Executive Council Meeting Postponed

The Federal Executive Council meeting earlier scheduled for today has been postponed till Monday, December 21. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed while speaking to state house correspondents said the postponement was to allow the ministers reflect on some of the corrections made on the 2016 budget proposal during a meeting of the National Economic Council held on Thursday.“We are being given time between now and Monday to go and rejig our figures because when the National Economic Council met yesterday, certain issues were thrown up which if not resolved will distort the entire budget proposal. So we are all going to get back on areas in which each ministry will go and do its own rejigging,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo to invest over $40 million in ‘CR7’ named hotels

Cristiano Ronaldo has increased his investment portfolio with a new business chain of hotels that will span across three cities namely Madeira, Lisbon and Madrid and will bear his trademark logo, CR7.He announced on Tuesday he will invest over $40 million in hotels in partnership with Pestana Hotel Group, the biggest Hotel chain in Portugal.Ronaldo and the Pestana Hotel Group will share their investment earnings 50-50 with another in the pipeline for New York. The first hotel will open in summer 2016 in Madeira. It will be followed by Lisbon where Ronaldo moved as a youngster and played for Sporting Lisbon with a Madrid site planned for 2017. Two killed as armed robbers attack bank in Osun

Two people lost their lives after a gang of armed robbers attacked a new generation bank at Ibokun in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Tuesday December 15th. Residents of the area say the robbers attacked the bank at about 6pm when the bank had closed.They went straight to the ATM, carted away money in it and afterwards blew the entrance of the bank open with dynamite where they also stole some money in the banking hall. The bank security guard and a resident of the area were killed during the robbery attack.

Group warns against criticizing Buhari

An Islamic Yoruba-affiliated youth society known as the Ansar-Ud-Deen Youth Association of Nigeria, has sent out a warning to individuals and groups working against the success of the Buhari-led administration. Bashir Omipidan who is the president of the group, sent out the warning at a press conference in Abuja yesterday December 17th“ADYAN hereby remind those who are bent on not only frustrating our dear president, but equally ready to add to the sufferings of Nigerians that the citizenry have resolved to end their nefarious activities,” Mr. Omipidan said.
