The full moon falls on February 7th – the sun in Aquarius and the moon in Leo. Astrologically, this is a moon of fire that falls into the fiery house of Leo, creating a powerful, albeit volatile, energy. Conversely, it is known in folklore as the snow moon. Read on to find out what energies to focus on at this point. This full moon is called the snow moon because there is snow on the ground or it is deepest at this time of year. Other names are Moon of the Seer, Storm or Quickening Moon. It is a time when the night of the year ends and we enter the half of the year with more hours of daylight and warmth. Just as a storm can flare up just before its end, winter can be the fiercest just before spring. We may feel drawn to continue our inner work – to work with and uncover our personal truth. It is said that this full moon brings light to illuminate our own darkness. I like this analogy, although I understand that it presents some challenges in acknowledging and accepting the darkness within me. I will be using divination to shed light on the parts I might not otherwise be prepared for. And to find out which areas to focus on in the coming month. I am currently using Wisdom of Avalon: http: //www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1401910424? I thought it was a good time to start making my own fortune telling tools, so I’ll be making myself a card game of tree cards for the next month. I will also deepen my practice of really observing the messages that nature offers us. Last week while driving back from a workshop with a bunch of friends, we came across an amazing majestic deer standing motionless by the side of the road. We stopped the car and everyone fell silent as they watched this beautiful animal. He continued to stand and stare at us. In the Wicca faith the deer stands for grace, gentleness and speed. I will never forget the picture of him, white against the dark forest behind it. And a day later a white dove flew by and perched on a nearby roof to pick up my kids from a party. It brought calm and a sense of perspective to the situation. Now I’m trying to pay attention to other symbolism from nature.
