Members of the Education Committee of the Lagos State House of Assembly have paid a working visit to schools in Education District II to verify compliance with COVID-19 protocols before fully resuming as per instructions from the state government.
The chairman of the committee, Mr. Yinka Ogundimu, who headed the delegation on Wednesday 9 September 2020, expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the schools in the educational district.
He applauded the various schools visited to meet all the requirements necessary for the reopening.
He also took the opportunity to review the students taking the WASSCE exam to urge them to do their best and strive for excellence.
The committee also commended the District Teacher General and State Secretary, Ms. Anike Adekanye, for her tireless efforts to uplift the schools in the district.
“The commitment of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner for Education, Ms. Folasade Adefisayo, to the development of the education sector has motivated me and others in the district,” said Ms. Adekanye.
She also thanked all members of the House of Assembly’s Education Committee for taking the time to visit the education district to ensure the safety of students and officials.
Schools visited include Oriwu Senior Model College Ikorodu; Senior Service and Junior Model College for Civil Service, Ikorodu; Mende Senior and Junior High School, Maryland.
Others are Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Senior and Junior High School, Odogunyan; Junior High School, Ikorodu and Senior High School, Ikorodu, among others.
