My new children’s book series arrived with book two of Ocean friends, More fish faces! I have to admit that I am very excited!
You all know how passionate I am for the ocean and animals, especially marine animals. I’ve traveled to all seven continents and had incredible experiences. Citizen Science expeditions have been some of the most fulfilling trips of my life. I’ve caged with great white sharks, seen minke minke whales, whale sharks, manta rays, gray whales, humpback whales and killer whales, and took photos for scientific identification of many other species. I loved every moment of it and share what I’ve learned in my new book series. Ocean friends!
Through my travels I have become very aware of the dangers of climate change and plastic pollution. I have made it my business to educate others about the importance of protecting our oceans and the creatures that live in them. It’s the main reason I published my books. All fish faces, and More fish faces. I’ve noticed that a lot of people are interested in nature conservation, but few go out of their way to learn more about it. Anyone who has a passion and an interest in protecting our planet can make a difference. You don’t need a Ph.D. in marine biology to encourage others to save the ocean. My experiences are testament to the impact of crowd sourcing science and how anyone can do far more than they ever thought possible, and that includes kids! Ocean friends will teach children that they too can contribute.
I see reaching the next generation (and their parents / grandparents) as essential. Our generation has not done a good job protecting our earth and our ecosystems. We need the ocean to survive, so that we can survive. I hope the colorful photos, fun facts, and practical information and tips on how to save our oceans will inspire a new generation of ocean lovers, scientists, divers, and conservationists.
I have also published a coloring book of my photographs in the books entitled All fish faces coloring book. Basically I removed the color from my photos so that children can color them in the colors they want. You can follow my book or come up with your own designs for the fish. I have also put together activity sheets that are free to download www.tamwarnerminton.com/book-media/ along with book datasheets, author datasheets and sample pages. You will also receive free book excerpts www.tamwarnerminton.com! You can order All fish faces and More fish faces at Amazon, Ingram and other online retailers, but you can also get them direct from me with 20% off by emailing [email protected] If you order directly from me, I’ll add cool bookmarks and signed copies are available.
I was excited about all of this to hum and the big one reviews I got. I was interviewed by We are Austin on CBS Austin with hosts Taylor Ellison and Trevor Scott, The Donna Seebo Showand others can be found on my website. The book reviews were also excellent by scholars at Marine Megafauna Foundation, Travel to Dallas Magazine, Scubaverseand so many educational and homeschooling sites! Please be sure look here if you are interested. It’s my turn Goodreads and Amazon. 10% go to marine protection.
Stay tuned as I have a ton of plans, including travel (as soon as we can travel again!) And more book ideas. I hope you stay safe in these uncertain times. I also encourage you to vote on the issue of climate. I’ve seen the damage and we’ve almost got to the point of no return. We have to make decisions for our future and for the future of our children and grandchildren.
