21 percent of voters say they would get a free vaccine ASAP: poll : HEALTH-CARE

Just over 2 in 10 Americans say they would try to get a free coronavirus vaccine right away if it were released this year. This comes from a poll published on Sunday.

In one CBS News / YouGov pollIf a free COVID-19 vaccine was released, 21 percent of Americans said they would go out and get vaccinated as soon as possible, while more than half (58 percent) said they would wait and see how it affects others Injection before you get one yourself.

The same percentage that would get it right away, 21 percent, also said they would “never” get a COVID-19 vaccine. That figure could prove challenging for health professionals who have tried to slow the spread of the virus and warned that many public activities and large-scale gatherings will not be possible until much of the population is vaccinated.

The majority of respondents were skeptical about the timeframe to manufacture a vaccine as a reason for not receiving the vaccine immediately. 65 percent of respondents said they would consider a vaccine to be the result of inadequate testing or some other “rush” of the vaccine through production before the end of 2020. Only 35 percent said a vaccine would mark a scientific breakthrough before the end of 2020.

There is a split between the parties on this issue. 77 percent of Democrats said a vaccine would be the result of a “breakthrough” in 2020, while only 48 percent of GOP respondents said so.

Both President TrumpDonald John Trump-Schumer calls for an investigation into reports of campaign funding inadequacies by DeJoy’s former McCarthy company. Trump said destroying mail-in votes will hurt Republicans and the national news media ranks well below national health experts and governors when it comes to whom Americans trust to provide accurate information about the pandemic.

Forty percent of respondents said they trust Trump’s statements about the virus, up from 46 percent in March, while only 35 percent trust the news media, compared with 45 percent in March.

The CBS News / YouGov poll was conducted September 2-4 of 2,493 registered voters across the country. The error rate of the survey is 2.4 percentage points.
