I really loved home decor, but if you’ve followed me for a while, you know it’s a process with me – I have to visualize everything and see pretty much everything together before I can make the final call. When it comes to the nursery it’s such a self-expression of who they are, so I want it to be a warm representation of them. This year Mara really turned into a teenager. It’s crazy to look at their pictures from the first and last day of school for 6th grade! Her current favorite colors are pink, mint and blue. She loves the beach, vans, art, plays kitchen or teacher with her brothers and is now officially in this make-up phase! We wanted to put together a room that had a little bit of everything and I’m in love with what it turned out to be. She helped me with pieces along the way, but we surprised her when I set most of it up and blindfolded her to include her for the room revelation. It was so special to see the way her face lit up when she saw it.
The first piece I went with was the tone for the rest of the color palette this carpet by Pottery Barn Teen. The colors are so happy (and all of their favorite colors). I like how bright it makes the room and the endless possibilities it offers to create accent colors in the rest of the room. The second piece I pulled the trigger on was her bed. The velvet is so pretty and can grow with her in her teenage years (comes in multiple colors like pink!). I also wanted a little seating area for the kids to hang out and love together this section! It has several Color options and it’s a great size for kids room.
We also had so much fun choosing their decor and accessories! I know Mara is almost a teenager, but one of the things I love about her so much is that she is so resourceful that she still enjoys playing faith games: house, barbies, kitchen, etc – her is so creative. When she saw this kitchen She was so excited about it because it looks almost the same for our kitchen, hardware, and sink on the farm. The kids probably play with it EVERY time they pass by. Ollie now loves just sitting and opening and closing the closet doors and pulling everything out. It makes my heart so happy to see them play there.
We have for your bed linen this duvet set We found (comes in 7 colors) but wanted something more fun and patterned for the leaves and love this gummy bear print at PBTeen! They have tons of the best leaf prints – This one is similar and how good is this colorful leopard print? I love all the colorful ones Beach vibe prints for a great way to bind more colors across the room. Another of my favorite pieces in the room is this her chandelier – It adds a pretty statement, but I love the natural look of the wood.
