Mubi Poly ASUP protests against the former rector as his successor : Nigerian Education

The Academic Personal Union of the Polytechnic Universities (ASUP) of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi has its former Rector, Dr. Sadiq Yahya, referred to as a tyrant who should be prosecuted.

Union members, who gathered in a protest on the institution’s Yola campus on Friday, also urged the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to appoint Dr. To investigate Sadiq in office for gross misconduct.

The ASUP members held posters and sang their slogans. They accused the former rector of witch hunts and downsizing without following due process.

The chairman of the ASUP, Husaini James, accused the rector of the immediate past, among other things, of mismanaging the institution’s funds.

“For over three months, Dr. Yahya has not shown up at the school since his term in office ended, but only to try to hand over the school’s affairs to the deputy principal at his home in Song yesterday, which he and the deputy refused to postpone until this morning.

“Because he got wind of us (ASUP) members who he knows he wanted to hand over today, he hastily handed them over to the deputy principal at around 10 p.m. on the school’s Yola campus, without the school’s chancellor and other leaders of the institution.

“The outgoing rector has turned himself into a tyrant whose words must be followed, whether right or wrong,” the ASUP chairman told journalists.

He called on the federal government to stop the activities of Dr. Investigate Sadiq in the eight years he served as principal.

In the meantime, Dr. Isyaku Abdulrahman, who represented Sadiq, assumed the office of incumbent rector.

Sadiq, whose term of office expired on Thursday, is said to have been handed over to Abdulrahman on Thursday evening on the Yola campus of the Polytechnic.
