This is perhaps the ultimate dormitory renovation I’ve ever seen and it’s brought to you by our very own Adria Ruff. Adria has been dreaming of her daughter’s student residence for eighteen years since she was born. Her daughter Brynne loves interior design (almost as much as her designer mother). This dynamic and creative mother-daughter duo spent much of the past year working on DIYed projects AR workshop. They curated interesting accents for Brynne’s college dorm at the University of Mississippi (“Ole Miss”). Just wait until you see all the trending details and the final transformation! Adria even gives tips on where to find some of the decorative items you bought! You won’t want to miss this DIY college dorm makeover!
To really understand how great the “after” is, one needs to fully understand the “before”. Here it is! Adria and Brynne had to work with yellow concrete walls and old dorm furniture!
Let’s start with the bed area. The white linen is from target. The pink pillows and pink lamps are from Housewares. The headboards are from Amazon. The custom wooden signs are from AR workshop and are mixed with multiple prints Hobby lobby. They also obtained the pink cups and pot from the Hobby Lobby. The pink and gray pom garland was also from the Christmas department in the Hobby Lobby last year. The pink keurig was a must have to match the decor. The pink refrigerator – you guessed it … a little DIY project painted with Krylon spray paint. Mini Pink fans were purchased from Walmart. Cheetah bed trays were created in custom colors by AR Workshop.
The pink velvet ottoman with gold trim and gold-colored cowhide leather carpet at Amazon.
Here is a photo taken close to the kitchen area.
Here is a side view of the second bed.
This view is the wall side of the room that you see when you first walk in. The curtains are from Amazon. The curtain rod comes from The Home Depot. Command rails were used to hang all of the wall decorations and curtain rods!
How cute are the matching salt and pepper shakers on the custom bed tray made at AR Workshop? (The pink salt shaker is from Walmart!)
In order to upgrade the old built-in desk area, decorative items from Home Goods, Hobby Lobby and Anthropologie were obtained and personal items were mixed.
A few more custom items rounded out this incredible transformation. (Adria added that “Call Your Mom” piece as a subtle reminder.)
What do you think? Would you like to live in this incredibly designed student residence? What detail of this DIY college dorm renovation did you love the most?
