Carried Away Quilting: Pumpkin Sky Pillow: An inviting touch for my porch

Pumpkin Sky Pillow: A welcoming touch for my porch

The first week of September heralded bright, crisp days for those of us in Minnesota. I plan to spend part of my Labor Day weekend doing fall decorations. To get you started, I’ve added some fall elements to my porch, including my newest Pumpkin Sky pillow.
I hope You Not Remember, I was working on this white butterscotch and denim version of my Pumpkin Sky pillow back in September last year! Finally I got my ducks in a row and quilted them from my friend Barb Quilts on Broadway in Foley. The loop-de-loop quilt pattern is one of my favorites. It’s soft and subtle, and adds texture without overwhelming the piecing.
This version of Pumpkin Sky has a blue denim background from Lella Boutique’s Harvest Road collection that highlights the white pumpkin so nicely. The orange flying geese come from an earlier fig tree collection. I love a blue and orange color combination.
The pillow is just one project in my Pumpkin Sky pattern, the other is a wall hanging. Here are the originals as quilted by my other lovable quilting friend, Starlit Bear of Starlit quilts.
I used a simple envelope back construction for the pillow. You can use a zipper if you want. But for me the envelope always works well and is done so quickly. My sample has instructions on how to return the envelope.
