The federal government said on Monday that it had specified a framework for the reopening of universities.
The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, announced this during the press conference of the Covid-19 Presidential Task Force in Abuja.
Nwajiuba noted that the National University Commission had fully informed the ministry of the level of readiness of its institutions.
However, he stressed that while the PTF would come up with a national guideline, it would now be left to the subnational and governing council of each college to define how their students would return according to covid-19’s health protocols.
“This discussion is ongoing.
“We received feedback from universities,” he replied when asked about the reopening of the school.
It should be recalled that the PTF had claimed that safety must be ensured before schools are fully reopened.
Nwajiuba also stated that some secondary school students who got Covid-19 from ongoing national exams had recovered.
