#SupportLocal: Mohalla | Dubai Food Diaries Dubai

Let’s talk about the next level of sustainable packaging: reusable tableware!

I have always loved the local Indian restaurant Mohalla at D3 Dubai, and all the more so knowing that I can order family-sized servings of their food in stylish casserole dishes, plates and bowls that I can keep and use again and again.

My chicken tikka biryani, for example, was AED 166 for one serving for 4-6 people and arrived in a baking dish that I have reused so many times now. It would be really perfect for a dinner party and just that simple. My food was ready to eat straight out of the box, saved me a trip to IKEA and definitely felt better with less packaging to throw away.

I’ve ordered a lot in the past 6 months and I often shudder at the sheer volume of packaging that wraps around my food. Double / triple / quadruple safe plastic bags around paper bags around boxes and packaging … 🙈

I’m not saying that reusable dishes are always the solution as you clearly pay the cost of the dishes and it still comes with excess boxes (albeit cute ones that I want to reuse too), bags, and plastic wrap, but it still is another option for busy people who may save money, use the plates and prefer a more sustainable option.

Mohalla now ships to a fairly wide delivery area including JLT, Palm and Discovery Gardens. Order directly from Chat food link in her biography or visit her at D3! 🙌
