One group, Affected Members, has accused the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Gusau, Professor Magaji Garba, of “systematic corruption and abuse of office”.
In a petition addressed to the education minister and the chairman of the university’s governing council, the group accused the VC of “breach of due process, financial recklessness, illegal recruitment, threats and intimidation of some council members”.
In the petition, the group called on the “University Visitor, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Department of State Services (DSS), Senate, House of Representatives, National University Commission (NUC) and Chancellor’s Committee,” Committee the vice chancellor, the new council of the university to investigate the vice chancellor and sanction him accordingly. “
The petition read in part: “The most disturbing of all the sins of the VC is its involvement in corruption by contracting with a company, Junoy Global Resources Ltd., and entering into a PPP contract without following due process and rules to violate projects. During the interactions of the committee of inquiry, the executive director of the company in question confirmed many cases of unsavory representations and deals that put the university administration as a whole to shame.
“Inevitable evidence has been found of hiring employees where the VC never followed due process. These cases were recorded in the attached report of the Council Inquiry Committee.
“We are writing this petition against the appointment of Dr. Ahmad Galadima as Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University Administration. This petition is conducted in good faith because we believe that the allegations are, to the best of our knowledge, true and correct. “
