Kristina A. Holzweiss is an educational technology enrichment specialist at Long Island, New York High School. She shares ideas and resources about her school library and makerspaces on her website http://www.bunheadwithducttape.com/. Kristina was named Librarian of School Library Journal of the Year in 2015, National School Board Emerging Technology Leader 2016-2017, and Mover & Shaker 2018 Library Journal. She is also the winner of the 2015 NYSCATE Lee Bryant Outstanding Teacher Award and the 2015 Fred Islandol Leadership and Innovation Award at the 2015 Long Island Technology Summit.
Kristina is co-author of “Hacking School Libraries: 10 Ways To Integrate Library Media Centers Into Your Learning Community, “As well as two series of Scholastic Makerspace books. She is an international speaker for libraries and the maker movement and has lectured at conferences such as ISTE, AASL, ALA and NYSCATE. In 2016, she was invited to represent Long Island, NY, in Washington, DC during the National Week of Making. Kristina is the Long Island Director of NYSCATE, a subsidiary of ISTE, and the founder of SLIME – Students of Long Island Maker Expo.
