Dear members and colleagues,
We have watched with fascination over the past four and a half months how the state would support the SME sector and we have found that they are missing. While wage subsidies and unemployment benefits have made a large part of the population dependent on economic livelihood, the underlying jobs in the real economy remain existentially threatened. The government’s main corporate solution has been debt, which both we and our members and the banks have told the government that it just won’t work.
As expected, we received a number of questions about the New Employment Wage Grant System (EWSS). In response to that, we become one LIVE Q&A on Monday the 7thth September with Karen Byrne, Assistant Principle Officer, Revenue Commissioners. We hope to have clarity and answers about the program at the event. Here you can ask questions to Revenue and register for the event. As always, places are limited so register as soon as possible.
With cases rising again, the government appeals to employees to continue working remotely if possible. It is important to our economy that we keep cases low. So if the employees can work remotely, we ask that you facilitate this. ISME has a number of resources that can help you with this. You can find them all in our Back to business Portal here. If you would like to place a free advertisement or a special offer on this portal, you will find information here.
