The historian is coloring old photos and they could change the way you see history Inspirational

With today’s various editing tools, we can take any photo and change its functions. From color, black and white to surreal Photoshop designs, the possibilities are almost limitless. When it comes to classic images of the past, historical figures have been captured through a black and white lens that almost serves as a time capsule from a distant era. On a recent creative journey, Mads Madsen, a 25-year-old Danish student with a Masters degree in Ancient History, has colored some well-known figures throughout history.

Much of his inspiration came from working on a Reddit thread. “They were hand-colored. That discovery led me to a deeper search and learned that it was actually made by an old lady, ”Madsen shared during an interview. “She had a website that hand-painted photos from all eras with oils. It just blew me away. “

These edits not only bring the photographed motifs to new life, but also the way in which we have always identified ourselves with historical memories. While Madsen’s deep passion for history is omnipresent, his artistic touch inspires new perspectives.
