ExamOne prides itself on serving customers across North America including Canada. In 2017, the Canadian presence expanded when ExamOne acquired Watermark Insurance Services, Inc.. and BW Underwriting Services, Inc. With the acquisition, we have also gained valuable employees, including 20-year-old Kim Coley from Pickering, Ontario, Canada. The Ambassador Award goes to an employee who is significantly involved in the development of solutions throughout the company and across borders.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job, or what do you love most about it?
I really enjoy learning new things, be it a new application, strategy, or workflow, and connecting with the people who know the most about it. During my various functions in the company, including as a member of the Strategic Initiative team and now in the ExamOne product department, I have the opportunity to put this principle into practice. I like to be able to question how something works and to solve the mystery behind it.
What is a tip that has helped you succeed in your role??
When I work with different groups in the company, I find it valuable to share individual perspectives and viewpoints. When I do this, not only do I contribute to solutions, but I also show others that they can speak too. This creates space for discussion and collaboration. That excites me.
“Kim brought so much experience, knowledge and passion to the ExamOne team and did an excellent job in our Canadian systems integration efforts. She is dedicated, intelligent and thorough with an excellent sense of humor which leads to great results for the projects she leads and also promotes our culture. “

Do you have a favorite quote or saying and why?
I love the quote “Ask smart people stupid questions”. We all want to present ourselves as knowledgeable and when we ask questions we feel vulnerable. However, it is important – especially if we think we know the answer – to ask why, as this will reveal the gaps in understanding and make people feel like they are being heard.
As a full-time worker, wife, and mother, Kim says she doesn’t have much free time. But when she gets a chance, she enjoys listening to podcasts, doing “artsy” things, and spending time with her husband, two sons, and all of their animals. We were fortunate enough to not only acquire a valuable company in Canada, but also the valuable experience and perspective of people like Kim.
