From the July 2020 economic and tax update created by Treasure Josh Frydenberg and Finance Minister Mathias Cormann, the government is expected to make new changes to the Qualified Independent (Subclass 189) – New Zealand Stream Visa.
The government is expected to promote the use of the SC 189 New Zealand Stream Visa Reduce the eligibility requirements (currently $ 53,900) and extend the authorization to holders of a special category SC 444 visa who meet at least the income threshold three of the last five years of income (currently 4 out of 5). The government will provide more information about this announcement in the future.
For nowTo obtain the SC 189 New Zealand Stream Visa, the applicant must:
- Keep a special category (Subclass 444) visa
- I have lived in Australia at least the last time 5 years
- I started living in or before Australia February 19, 2016
- Have the taxable income (see table below) at or above the income threshold for each of the four completed income years prior to submitting an application
