Mental people and food
What do psychic people eat? That question came to my mind last night as I was preparing dinner. I had done an intensive Akashic Records reading for a client a few hours earlier and all of a sudden I got this energy drain.
When people give psychic readings or do energy work, the energy in the body runs in unusual ways and people in my industry need to make sure that we take care of ourselves energetically and through nutrition.
Supporting each other in a sensible way can mean developing our stamina for work and benefiting everyone. Energetically sensitive people can be drained by unbalanced energy. This can affect our work, so we need to focus on it.
Avocados are high on my list for mental and energetic support
I first discovered how helpful avocados are to me during energy sessions when I was working on my EMF Balancing Technique accreditation in Sedona, AZ a few years ago. The course was energetically very intense. The first morning I was exhausted and hungry – long before it was noon.
This is a difficult place for an energy worker as the energy flows through the body during the sessions. Sometimes energy workers can be aided by the universal energy with which we are working. This job is much more difficult to do without good physical resources.
I intuitively bought some avocados that evening and at breakfast in our B&B the next morning I made sure I ate at least half an avocado.
The difference in focus was extremely noticeable.
What’s in an avocado that is so helpful in intense situations?
According to the USDA National Nutrient DatabaseOne serving (one fifth of an avocado, about 40 grams) contains:
- 64 Calories
- almost 6 grams of fat
- 3.4 grams carbohydrate
- less than a gram of sugar
- almost 3 grams of fiber
Avocados are a great source of vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, Folic acid, Pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, Beta carotene, and Omega 3 Fatty acids.
Although most of the calories in an avocado come from fat, don’t be shy! Avocados are full of healthy, beneficial fats that will help you stay full and full. When you consume fat, your brain receives a signal to turn off your appetite. Eating fat slows down the breakdown of carbohydrates, which helps keep blood sugar levels stable.
Fat is essential for every single cell in the body. Eating healthy fats supports skin health, improves the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, and can even boost the immune system.
According to this article, avocados also contain a natural plant sterol called beta-sitosterol, which helps maintain healthy cholesterol.
In my eyes, avocado is definitely a psychological and energetic superfood! A dear friend of mine taught me to eat it with lemon juice and salt. The result is incredibly delicious!
Mental people also avoid stimulants
In 2012, at a Kryon seminar, I also received some very clear messages to give up caffeine.
Now I’m British and the kettle is in my house several times a day, even in hot weather. That was difficult news.
However, when I gave up on caffeine it seemed easy to me and I never looked back. I still drink decaffeinated coffee and tea, but now I don’t have those four hours of “coffee sweat” after drinking a caffeinated beverage. It’s a lot nicer to be. I’ve also found some excellent coffee substitutes, a few of which I’ve listed below. I particularly like the dandyblend, it’s an excellent coffee substitute, good for you, and I don’t feel like I’m missing out when I drink it.
Further down the spiritual path, one of my Akashic Records teachers suggested drinking less alcohol. I rarely do that now because I’m not very specific even after a drink. Their teaching was that “alcohol weakens the edges of the energy field” and that we should avoid alcohol 24 hours before a reading for a client.
I believe that if a person drinks too much alcohol, a reader’s accuracy can be compromised. Everyone is different, of course, but often highly sensitive people use alcohol to block their gifts and relieve them from the inputs of Spirit (Allison Dubois showed this in the dramatization of their life on the Medium series). I have another drink on Friday night if I want one, as I don’t work on Saturdays!
Other foods to support psychological or energetic sensitivity
Here are some personal favorites to help you along the way. I still eat meat, but in much smaller amounts than before. Sometimes after group work or a series of readings, protein is the first requirement for psychic people!
What we really need to do after the mental work is to create ground, which is what this energy consumption is about. Feeding yourself is one way to do this. A colleague who is a shaman once told me:
Eat root vegetables to help you get grounded.
I love shamanic wisdom because it is so simple and yet deep and immediate.
My energy boosts between measurements are:
- Bananas (usually also with low-fat cheese spread)
- Avocados – as discussed above
- Half a baked potato with tuna or sardines
- Nuts, fruits and a small amount of cheese
- vegetables homemade soupor bone broth
- A small amount of chicken or tuna.

Think of managing your diet as part of your practice. As any working mental or energetic practitioner will tell you, their work is a practice and also a lifestyle.
The opening for psychic abilities and the inner and outer world of energy places high demands on the systems of our body. This is because we learn to operate our body energy differently while expanding our awareness.
I just saw today that avocado milk is about to hit consumer shelves in the US. That makes for some interesting colors in the cereal bowl!
