The Institute for Continuing Education (ICE) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), in cooperation with the faculties of arts and social sciences, invites you to apply for the following part-time B.Sc./BA programs for the academic session 2020/2021.

A. FACULTY OF ARTS:
– Creative arts (theater arts / music / visual arts)
– Religious Studies (CRS & ISS)
– English
– European language and integration studies (French / Russian)
– History & strategic studies
– Linguistics, African Studies and Asian Studies (Igbo / Yoruba)

B. FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

Admission requirements.

DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR PROGRAMS IN THE FACULTY OF ART

A. CREATIVE ARTS: 5 O-level credits, including English, math, literature and two other subjects.

B. RELIGIOUS STUDIES (CRS)
– Christian religious studies: 5 O-level credits, including English, mathematics, CRS and two other subjects.
– Islamic Studies (ISS): 5 O-level credits, including English, mathematics, Arabic // IRS and two other subjects.

C. GERMAN: 5 ‘O’ level credits including English, math, literature, an arts subject and an arts or social science subject.

D. EUROPEAN LANGUAGES AND INTEGRATION STUDIES: 5 ‘O’ level credits including English, math and three art subjects.

E. HISTORY & STRATEGIC STUDIES: 5 ‘O’ level credits including English, math, history or government, an art and other subject.

F. LINGUISTICS, AFRICAN AND ASIAN STUDIES: 5 ‘O’ level credits including English, math, Yoruba / Igbo and two other subjects.

G. PHILOSOPHY: 5 ‘O’ level credits including English, math, one art subject (government is considered an art subject) and two other subjects.

The following arts are acceptable: history, literature, French, CRS / IRS, political education and any Nigerian language.

DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR PROGRAMS IN THE FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

A. ACTUAL SCIENCE
5-year program; Five (5) credits exist in O-level subjects in English, mathematics, economics and two of the subjects financial accounting, data processing, CRS / IRS, further mathematics, geography, government, biology, chemistry, physics, trade, political education, and Insurance taken out in no more than two sessions.

4-year program; OND in finance, statistics, math, economics, engineering and other related fields acquired by accredited Polytechnics and Monotechnics and by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.50 and higher on a 5-point scale have been recognized; and also met the requirements in (a) above. JUPEB / GCE (A’Level) or Cambridge exam or equivalent with very good degrees in mathematics and two (2) subjects from the following areas: Financial Accounting, Other Mathematics, Geography, Government, Biology, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Commerce, and Business administration. Program diploma from the University of Lagos Foundation with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00.

3-year program; Higher National Diploma (HND) in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering and other related fields obtained from accredited Polytechnics and Monotechnics and from the University of Lagos Senate with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.50 and above a 5-point scale was recognized; and also met the requirements in (a) above.

B. INSURANCE
5-year program; Five (5) O-level credits, including English, math, economics and any two in the areas of financial accounting, data processing, CRS / IRS, other math, geography, government, biology, chemistry, physics, commerce, political education, and insurance received at no more than two sessions.

4-year program; National diploma (OND) in the fields of insurance, business administration, business administration, finance, accounting, economics and other related fields, obtained from accredited technical colleges and monotechnicians, recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.50 and above on a 5-point scale; and also met the requirements in (a) above.

3-year program; HND in the areas of insurance, business administration, business administration, finance, accounting, economics and other related areas, acquired from accredited technical colleges and monotechnicians with 2 years of professional experience according to HND. The candidate must similarly meet the requirements in (a) above.

DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAMS IN THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

A. MASS COMMUNICATION

5-year program; Five (5) O-level credits, including English, math, English literature and two (2) other subjects, acquired in no more than two sessions.

4-year program; Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos or other accredited universities, recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 and higher on a 5-point scale. Applicants must also meet the level O requirements in paragraph 3.

3-year program; HND in mass communication from accredited polytechnics and monotechnics with a minimum of credit and 2 years of post-HND experience. Applicants must be registered members of the relevant regulatory authorities and / or professional associations such as APCON, NIPR, NUJ etc. and must meet the requirements of level “O” in paragraph 3.

B. SOCIOLOGY

5-year program; Five O-level credits in English, math and two subjects like business, government, political education / social studies or geography and an arts subject like literature in English, CRS / IRK, Yoruba / Igbo / Hausa or history with no more than two Meetings.

4-year program; Diploma in Social Development and Administration (SDA) from the University of Lagos or the Foundation Program from the University of Lagos or diploma from other accredited universities recognized by the University of Lagos Senate with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 1.5 and above. Applicants must meet Level O requirements in paragraph 3.

C. SOCIAL WORK

The requirements for this program are the same for B.Sc sociology.

Eligible candidate: Applicants who have five (5) O’Level credits in relevant subjects such as English and math in a maximum of TWO sessions can apply. .

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMS: The duration of each program is five (5), four (4) or three (3) years, depending on the entry qualification.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
i) The application is made in two (2) steps: JAMB and ICE (Evening) UNILAG
ii) There is no UTME exam for the UNILAG candidates of the Institute for Continuing Education (ICE).
iii) The programs run in the evening.

Application method:

The application takes place in two steps:

  1. In the first phase, candidates must register and register on the JAMB CAP website and pay an amount of N3,500 to receive a JAMB registration number.
  2. Register for the second phase via the following link on the UNILAG application portal.

  3. Click on “Start new application” and select ICE as the application type. Then provide your last name, first name, middle name, JAMB registration number, mobile phone number and email address.
  4. Click “Pay Now” to pay online. The processing fee is N11,500 (only eleven thousand five hundred naira). OR Print out the payment note with the Remita number to make the payment at a bank within the University of Lagos.
  5. After paying, return to the application portal and click “Continue Application”. Enter your payment reference number and your last name in lower case as a password.
  6. Complete all the necessary details and upload the required documents.
  7. Fill out the application form, submit it online and print out two copies. (Candidates can save their application form for later processing.)
  8. Completed application forms should be submitted online, and a printed copy of the completed, full-color forms should be submitted to Office 634 of the Faculty of Arts, Management Sciences program in the Actuarial and Insurance and Social Sciences departments in the Mass Communication departments, Social Work and Sociology Offices.
