Hey smart friends! I look forward to participating in a Harry Potter Creative Crafts blog hop! Today I share a fun 3D printed project created with my new Alta silhouette. (I’ll post more information about this fun machine in an upcoming post.) Let’s go!
It’s no secret that we love the Harry Potter film series. When my friend Laura from Laura Kelly Designs invited me to join a Harry Potter craft blog hop, I couldn’t resist.
How do I create a 3D printed Harry Potter keychain?
If you’ve ever thought about getting into 3D printing, take a closer look at the Alta silhouette. It is a beautifully sized machine, perfect for small handicrafts. I’ve been working on my machine for a few weeks now and I love all the different things I can do. Full disclosure (I got the Alta from Silhouette for free. As always, my opinions are my own). This particular post is not sponsored, but I wanted to be transparent to all of you before we start the tutorial. 😉
What you will need:
Alta Silhouette 3D printer
Harry Potter SVG file (download HERE free)
Embroidery thread, beads and ribbons etc. (optional)
Download the file linked above and open it in Silhouette Studio 3D. Resize as needed
Load the filament according to the instructions on the screen and print it out! (I’ll give a step-by-step guide to getting started with your Alta 3D printer, but the Silhouette 3D software is very user-friendly!)
The design took about 20 minutes to print and came out very nicely! Next, just take the pressure off the platen and you’re done.
Now for the decorations! You can simply add a split ring and you’re done, or decorate your keychain with a handmade tassel in Gryffindor colors and a small matching ribbon. It’s really up to you how you beautify the keychain!
And that’s it! I hope you found this little tutorial helpful, especially if you are considering entering the entertaining world of 3D printing!
You can find more Harry Potter ideas in my many other Harry Potter projects and party ideas. And don’t forget to check out my creative friends’ fun crafts!
Have fun tinkering!
