I got together on a wonderful summer evening last week Vanilla gift to host a dreamy ice cream party for some of the kids in our neighborhood. July is the national ice cream month. What could be nicer than enjoying a few sweet treats with neighbors and friends? In the age of social distancing, I haven’t been doing as much entertainment lately, but when I do, I make sure to keep it small and, if possible, to host the party outdoors. After a hard winter and a little rainy spring, I am so grateful that Cleveland has blessed us with one of the best summers I can remember! Thanks to my talented friend Brittany Gidley PhotographyI am very happy to share the details of this sweet summer party with all of you!
The design for the party was inspired by a beautiful white ice cream truck rental Rent curated rents and furniture. I think it’s great that this piece makes such a statement itself, but also offers a blank canvas so that it works for every party theme.
The color palette for the party was inspired by ice cream sorbet! Blushes and peach colors are trending in the party world right now, and I hoped the subtle colors and details would help improve the decor for a child or adult’s party.
Next I went to flowers! I worked with my favorite florist. Ashley’s Floral and basically set a budget, share the colors of the party and ask them to get creative. It was so much fun to bring their design to life! The flower installation on the front of the car was exactly what I hoped for and more. The flowers showed peach and ivory ranunculus, blushing garden roses, dahlias and lush greenery.
I paid special attention to the details of this party to ensure that it remains simple and yet unique ways are found to incorporate the theme of the ice party. I got some Bonjour Fete party items, including Ice cream cone plate, fancy sprinklesand delightfully baked Cherry napkins. I also found an adorable one pink ice cream scoop on Amazon, along with simple white papers Ice cream bowls to make cleaning up easier. Of course, I had to accent the white car with balloons, so I developed one custom balloon garland matching the color sorbet scheme.
At the top of the car I showed waffle bags at the One Stylish Party Acrylic champagne wall (Seriously, it’s the perfect size to hold ice cream cones!) and serves the ice cream toppings, like cherries and sprinkles, in glass bowls. Since the ice in the car was kept cold, I wanted a few themed treats that would not melt to use in the display, so I got Creamsicle Cupcakes and Pink Cakesicles from Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes. I finished the design with a DIY ice cream menu sign and a small flower arrangement.
I love that this party design is suitable for all types of celebrations, from a bridal shower to a children’s birthday party to an outdoor summer wedding. I hope this post inspires you to get creative on how to improve your next summer soiree.
