In this post you will find upcycle design by a designer who has been featured on this blog a few times. And I have to say that he has a well-deserved place here on upcycleDZINE.
His name is Juraj Vyboh from Slovakia and this time he has upcycled a few umbrellas. And not like many others with the whole umbrella or with that Screen serves as a lampshade, flower holder or banner. No Juraj used it in any other way. This upcycle chandelier is called umbrella.
Umbrella handles and a kitchen strainer
An umbrella is a very well-known object. That’s why umbrella upcycling is so interesting and fun. Old umbrellas are especially beautiful. Beautifully curved handles, often made of different wood tones. To get one Nice collectionJuraj collected them for about three years. The chandelier was made by connecting the collected handles to an old kitchen strainer. The end result is nothing short of amazing. To me it looks like some kind of sea creature, a sea urchin with its tentacles. But in a friendly way.
Full time hobby
Juraj Vyboh’s studio is an upcycle design and collection workshop for handmade lighting and furniture in Bratislava, Slovakia. Since its introduction in 2009, Juro Vyboh has worked as an architect for 6 years and creates small design projects part-time. This hobby has become a full-time job.
“Reusing things with their own stories leads to unexpected and unique design results that are characteristic of non-conformity and hidden humor.”
The pieces are mostly conceptual, but based not only on the use of reused materials and objects. The aim is to look for new materials and techniques and to create an extraordinary, but also fully functional atmosphere. The result is objects for those who want to enrich their rooms with remarkable solitaires and give them a personal touch.
