The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Edo State Chapter, has commended the commitment of the Governor of the Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, to education.
In one by the President of the Union, Pius .O. Okhueleigbe and Deputy Secretary-General Moni Mike Modesty Itua praised the governor’s reshuffle in Edo State within three years of his tenure on July 9, 2020.
It urged residents to support the governor and his deputy so that he could complete other major educational projects that he started in the state.
The Union used the opportunity to distance itself from an online publication of a Suleiman Abdul who claimed to be a teacher in the state’s Akoko Edo district.
Teachers said the publication was aimed at defaming the union and governor Obaseki, and described the publication as being handcrafted by a non-rioter.
They said the union had investigated the source of the malicious publication and found that “there is no teacher in the Akoko Edo region known as Suleiman Abdul; which means that the publication is the handiwork of unauthorized persons. “
