Review: Create Your Own Kits Toys and games Father

Disclosure: I received two Build Your Own kits for review and storage.

The school year is almost over and since it has gotten used to lockdown homeschooling, it will be difficult to keep the kids as busy as they were.

So when I was offered a couple Build your own Check kits, I took the chance.

Recommended for ages eight and up, there is a lot to like. First, they are made almost entirely of sustainable cardboard, unlike plastic.

That of course makes them much more environmentally friendly and that can only be good.

And thanks to their refined design, no glue is required – they are simply put together without dirt. Another big plus for me.

Plus everything that both ticks the STEM box and keeps the kids away from their tablets for a while brings two thumbs up from me.

This 47-piece kit contains easy-to-follow instructions. Since no gluing is required, it is easy to back out when enthusiastic teenagers rush forward and join the wrong parts.

The box is beautiful and robust and everything fits together perfectly. We had it done in less than half an hour, then it was time to literally let it fly. And yes, I was hit a few times when I got this picture!

The set contains 10 different paper planes and four targets. In the future, I will encourage the boys to aim at them rather than at me.

We’re going to have a lot of fun with it in the summer months and they’re already talking about designing their own paper planes, so they’re clearly inspired.

Build your own telescope

If the aircraft launcher is good for nature, this telescope kit is just the thing for the inevitable rainy days we always have in summer.

Assembly took a little longer than the other, but the oldest really enjoyed assembling them.

The finished telescope is up to 72 cm long and offers 16x magnification. This makes it ideal to take a closer look at the wildlife in the fields behind our house.

Plus the moon and stars as soon as the sun sets for the night.

Both sets were a lot of fun and I know they will be used a lot during the summer vacation and beyond.

The Plane Launcher kit has a RRP of £ 16.99, while the telescope costs £ 19.99. Alternatively, you can save 15% and buy both for £ 31.43.
