How to make apple sauce in an instant pot

Let’s quickly prepare fresh homemade applesauce with electric rapid cooking. It only takes about 25 minutes to prepare the recipe.

ingredients

  • Apples
  • water
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Yes that’s it. Measures for optional sugar, honey, lemon juice or salt can be found below.

preparation

Now we come to a batch!

Peel and cut apples

1. Peel, core and roughly chop the apples.

Pressure cooker and puree

2. Add apple pieces and a cup of water to the instant pot.

3. Close the lid by turning the lid. Close the valve to seal all pressure. Select “High pressure” for the instant pot for 5 minutes. It takes approximately 8 minutes to reach pressure.

4. Open the valve with a hot pad or towel to quickly release the pressure. Once all pressure has been released, unscrew the lid (away from you to prevent steam from damaging you) and remove the pot inside. It gets hot, so use a towel or a hot pad.

5. Drain the water with a strainer. Transfer the cooked apples to a food processor, blender or hand blender. Pulsate until you have smooth applesauce.

If you don’t have a food processor, a potato masher will do, although the results may be a little chunkier.

6. Add the cinnamon. Mix again

Variations

While the basic recipe for bare bones is described above, you can season your DIY applesauce with one or more of them (or skip the cinnamon if you’re not a fan).

  • Pinch or two pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp -1/4 cup of sugar
  • Drizzle with a tablespoon of honey
  • 2 tsp – 1 tbsp lemon juice

These can be added directly to the mixer as desired. The applesauce is still warm, so it should dissolve without problems.
