CommBank app, website failure hits thousands of customers BANKING

Commonwealth Bank customers have used social media after the bank experienced a widespread payment and online banking failure this afternoon.

It seems that most customers have problems at checkout terminals or when trying to display their bank details through the app or website.

A CBA spokeswoman confirmed the failure and apologized to the affected customers in a statement to news.com.au.

“We are aware of an issue that affects some POS transactions on some CBA terminals and the display of cards and loans in the CommBank app and NetBank,” said the spokeswoman.

“We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.

“We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience.”

It has not yet been confirmed what caused the failure or how many of the bank’s 15.9 million customers are affected.

Customers have experienced a number of issues today, including viewing their accounts and statements for a variety of home loans, credit and savings accounts, paying with CBA debit and credit cards, and using cardless cash.
