The following comes from samples from Tahirih, HIAS, and Immigration justice campaign

I am writing to express my strong disapproval of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS) and Department of Justice Executive Office (EOIR) of the Department of Justice (DOJ) reluctance to remove; Credible fear and reasonable fear rating; RIN 1615-AC42 / 1125-AA94 / EOIR file number 18-0002 / AG order number 4714-2020.

The United States has a long history of protecting those who escape the danger, but the NPRM is trying to target the most vulnerable people fleeing the U.S. in search of security. The rule brings new obstacles at every stage of the process, which the vast majority of asylum seekers cannot overcome, which is causing more and more asylum seekers to be harmed. I reject these proposed changes that would effectively dismantle the US asylum system and make it almost impossible to find security in the US. They would deny most asylum seekers due process in deciding on their applications and would completely exclude gender-based asylum. These proposed regulations would change the definition of the meaning of “persecution”. They would make it exponentially more difficult to get asylum based on political opinion or belonging to a particular social group. These rules also deny any asylum that has traveled through two or more countries on its way to the United States or has never submitted any taxes. These rules are a complete departure from our country’s commitment to human rights and the protection of refugees and asylum seekers who seek security along our shores.

If implemented, these proposed rule changes would reverse decades of established precedents and effectively eliminate refugee protection, which has long been recognized as an integral part of our country’s values.

[Enteryourownopinions[Insertyourownopinions[GebenSieIhreeigenenMeinungenein[Insertyourownopinions about why you support a strong US asylum system and why you reject the proposed changes. For example:

  • Why is abolishing the US asylum system against yours? personally Values?
  • Has your family his own Persecution story?
  • You know Someone seeking asylum or has been granted asylum?
  • Have you seen firsthand how refugees contribute to your community?
  • How do these rule changes affect our values as a nation?

This regulation seeks to completely dismantle almost every aspect of our asylum laws and to remove critical humanitarian channels that our laws seek to protect. The rule is at the heart of our historical commitment to provide a safe haven for people fleeing persecution and questions our integrity as a country.

Asylum is a form of protection for people who have left everything behind and need our help to get to safety. I reject this new rule and stand by survivors of violence, unaccompanied children, families and those who need protection. For these reasons, I urge you to immediately lift the proposed rule and instead push ahead with measures that respect and maintain the legal right of asylum in this country for people in need of protection.
