This natural air purifier uses a miniature forest to quickly purify your atmosphere! Industrial Design

If you can’t go into the forest to breathe clean air, how about bringing the forest to your house? The Briiv is a household terrarium, but more importantly, it’s a fresh view of the air filtration that uses these HEPA filters and UV lights for something more natural.

This is a fact that not many people know about. HEPA filters are not recyclable and are not biodegradable. 6000 tons of HEPA filters reach landfills every year and it takes thousands of years for them to decompose. While the use in medical devices and PPE makes sense, the Briiv wants to change the perception that man-made plastic filters are needed in household air purifiers. In contrast to artificial HEPA filters, the Briiv uses plants and plant filter systems that fight air pollution just as effectively, but do not require any maintenance or irrigation. They do not generate any artificial waste, are completely biodegradable and offer a healthy, natural and aesthetic alternative that is as good as a mini forest in your home.

With a design that looks like a cross between a terrarium and an Apple home pod, the Briiv is a modern looking air purifier that gives your apartment a touch of green. The filter has a special, sustainably grown, dried moss on the inside that naturally cleans the air by capturing harmful particles, killing microorganisms and releasing clean, fresh air. Beneath the moss are several biofilters, including one made from loosely woven coconut fibers, another filter made from carbon-containing hemp and a wool microfiber filter, which together filter particles with a size of PM 0.3 and at the same time capture and neutralize bacteria. Molds and other volatile organic compounds to give you air that has been naturally refreshed in a filter that is designed to match up to 3000 houseplants in one device.

The Briiv is ultimately a successful combination of nature-inspired design and consumer tech. The air purifier has intelligent functions with which you can supply it with your voice. So you can either use your smart speaker to perform a deep cleaning cycle, or use the Briiv app to turn timers on your phone on and off. A simple 1 hour run on the Briiv does the job of a miniature forest and quickly cleans the air you breathe by helping to trap microparticles, microorganisms and odors. The Briiv does not need to be watered or stored in the sun, and the replaceable filters can be easily composted instead of thrown in the trash. It does the job of a sophisticated air purifier, but at the same time it is bio-friendly and gives your room a nice touch of green and nature!

Briiv – the most sustainable air purifier in the world

The Briiv is based on NASA technology and uses 100% renewable and natural materials to filter the air in your home or office environment. This creates clean, safe air so that you can live healthier, sleep better and breathe more easily.

What causes poor indoor air quality?

Pollutants don’t just come from traffic and factories. Every time you cook, light candles, use detergents and even play with your pets, tiny particles and harmful gases are released into your home. Briiv helps remove them so you can enjoy life to the fullest.

How is Briiv compared to using traditional houseplants?

Plants are amazing, there’s no denying that Briiv is as powerful as 3,043 medium-sized houseplants. So you can enjoy the benefits of plants in your home without any problems.

The problem with current filters

15,000,000 air filters were purchased in 2019 and the filter needs to be replaced every 6-8 months.

Briiv is said to return to Earth

With four completely biodegradable filters, Briiv filters the natural microstructures of moss, coconut, carbon and wool as nature intended. These filters are all plastic-free and decompose to harmless soil within a few months.

Feel closer to nature

Inspired by the British landscape, Briiv uses natural colors, textures and materials to connect you with nature. A variety of functions ensure that your air stays clean:

Internet of things

Optional integration for Alexa and Google Assistant if you want to integrate Briiv into your smart home.

Control on the go

Briiv has a smart, simple app that allows you to set timers and turn off Briiv remotely. Briiv is a smart device for a modern home and compatible with IOS and Android devices.

A smart app that tracks your filter usage as it runs so you don’t have to guess or worry about when it’s time to change it.

Filter levels

Moss: Natural dried moss traps large particles such as dust and animal hair from the air.

Coconut: The humble coconut offers us an abundance of uses and its shell captures harmful substances from the air.

Carbon: Activated carbon removes odors from the air so that Briiv not only cleans the air, but also smells better.

Sheep: Briiv’s secret weapon. This wool filter was developed to be used by NASA as an air filter in the Orion capsule. It is just as effective as a HEPA plastic filter, but is 100% biodegradable.

The wool comes from New Zealand and comes from an amazing sheep breed called Astino. They are very well cared for and all of our farmers practice safe and humane shearing to keep the sheep happy and healthy.

Briiv wool filters have been scientifically tested by Nelson Labs in the United States using the following tests:

Particle Filtration Efficiency Results: The filter captured 99.85% of the 0.1 µm latex particles.
Bacterial Filtration Efficiency – Results: The filter removed 99.99902% of the bacteria.
Cytotoxicity Results: Test showed a passport.

The wool manufacturers have also put together a video with a test bench showing the effectiveness of the wool that can be displayed on Vimeo Here.

Briiv will effectively improve the air quality in a 36 m² living space in just one hour.

Replace filter

To replace the carbon and wool filters, simply lift off the glass with the coconut filter. As simple as that.

Rethink plastic

Instead of opting for oil-based plastics, Briiv uses a new bioplastic made from elephant grass that is grown where agricultural crops are not possible. This culture traps carbon and is completely biodegraded.

This is considered far superior to recycling, since standard plastics can only be reused a few times beforehand and therefore have to be disposed of.

The power of the humble coconut. The fibers come from the outer shell of the nut and have been used since ancient times. They have been transformed into a patented structure to create an environmentally friendly filter that easily returns to nature.

Non-biodegradable parts such as glass can be easily recycled. This leaves only the electrical components. They hope to be able to replace them with more sustainable alternatives in the future if the technology enables them to do so safely.
