The ASUU demands the immediate restoration of the UNIPORT government council : Nigerian Education

The Academic Personnel Union of the Universities, ASUU, has asked the federal government to immediately form a new Governing Council for the University of Port Harcourt.

The chairman of the UNIPORT chapter of the ASUU, Dr. Austen Sado stated this in a statement distributed in the media.

Dr. Sado said the university law did not allow a university to operate in a vacuum, adding that UNIPORT was faced with several administrative challenges related to awarding contracts due to the alleged “arrogance of outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale,” the well-being and discipline of employees ”and so on.

In the meantime, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration (DVC Admin), Professor Regina Ogali, has been reportedly appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, as the outgoing VC, Prof. N. Lale, remains mandatory departure on June 12.
