Tony Chalfant will replace Dave Spurling as Chief Credit Officer at Heritage Bank in Olympia, Washington on July 1.
Chalfant is currently Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Credit Officer of Heritage Bank, a position he has held since July 2019. Previously, Chalfant had been a regional loan officer since January 2018, when Heritage took over the Puget Sound Bank. He was CCO for Puget Sound Bank for 13 years and before joining Puget Sound Bank, he worked in commercial loans and senior positions at the US bank for 11 years. Chalfant started his career with the US currency auditor and worked there for eight years.
Chalfant has also served his community on the boards of Bellevue boy and girl clubs and the Bellevue Art Museum and is currently a member of the Eastside Business Roundtable. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from Washington State University, Pullman, and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.
“Dave and his team have led the bank through a period of exceptional growth, both organic and acquisitions, and difficult credit cycles, and his contribution has been invaluable,” said Jeff Deuel, president and chief executive officer of Heritage Financial Corporation. “Although we will surely miss Dave and wish him all the best in retirement, we are confident that Tony will provide the expertise needed to manage us through the current credit cycle and beyond.”
Spurling has been Executive Vice President and CCO of Heritage Bank since 2007 and has held commercial lending positions at Heritage since 2001. With a 36-year career in commercial banking, Spurling is a graduate of the University of Washington, Seattle.
The $ 5.5 billion Heritage Bank has 67 offices in Oregon and Washington.
