What Happens When You Search Google?how to increase e-commerce sales?
You will be overwhelmed. Why?
There are over 41 million results on the subject!
And only with Google. Imagine you’re looking for the same thing on Youtube. Trust me, you will still be overwhelmed by all of the video results.
In this post, I decided to simplify the entire process of increasing e-commerce sales.
Before we start, remember that you need 6 things to grow any kind of e-commerce business.
- You need strategies
- You need money
- You need a product
- You need people
- You need technology
- You need time
Without these 6 things, you will find it difficult to grow your e-commerce business. Trust me, I was there.
Understand the difference between strategies and tactics
People who run an e-commerce business are often obsessed with tactics. I personally like to be obsessed with strategies.
What is the difference?
- Strategies are goals
- tactics are measures to achieve goals
I am a big fan of strategies because they are long-term and can be measured.
I mean, why reinvent the wheel when you can easily apply strategies that have worked for other successful ecommerce brands in the past?
Tactics, on the other hand, are constantly changing, but many of them help you achieve your goals.
Tactics overwhelm people.
So if you’re looking for ways to increase online sales, you need to focus on strategies so you don’t get overwhelmed.
How to increase e-commerce sales
When you set up an online shop, it does not necessarily mean that customers come immediately and buy your products.
You need marketing to build awareness, build engagement, drive traffic, and turn customers into loyal customers so they can continue to shop and rave about your brand.
You need to get your audience’s attention. You have to arouse interest. You need to get them to crave what you have to offer and then finally get them to act (buy your product). This is called AIDA (ACaution, Interest, D.esire and Action).
It is only 3 ways you can increase e-commerce sales with marketing:
- Organic marketing
- Paid marketing
- Marketing deserved
Remember, you need a mix of all 3 to get significant results.
1. Use organic marketing to increase e-commerce sales
Organic marketing is the act in which your target group is naturally won over to your brand. This is usually accomplished by creating content that is spread across multiple channels including your online store.
Organic marketing is usually not paid, but does not mean that it is free. You have to invest time and money in creating the content. The content can include text, audio, video, and all types of graphics such as photos and illustrations. Unlike paid marketing, you don’t spend money promoting this content.
Organic marketing includes:
- Content creation (blog)
- Search engine optimization
- Email marketing
- Social media marketing
I created a video about 5 steps to building an organic marketing strategy.
In this video I will cover the following topics:
- What is organic marketing?
- The advantages of organic marketing
- What you need to know about organic marketing
- 5 steps to build your bio marketing strategy
Organic marketing is inexpensive, gives you control and lives on forever.
2. Paid marketing to increase e-commerce sales
A tight budget for paid marketing initiatives is crucial if you want to increase online sales.
You pay to promote your content, product and brand.
With paid campaigns, you can achieve short and long-term results. When combined with organic campaigns, you will get a better return on all of your marketing efforts if you do it right.
You can pay your way to advertise your products on many different channels.
- Paid search ads
- Social media ads
- Show media
- Audio (podcasts, streaming radio)
- Traditional television, radio, newspaper, billboards, magazines
Paid marketing delivers instant results, allows you to quickly step in front of your audience and increase website traffic so you can start generating revenue.

3. Use earned marketing to increase ecommerce sales
Regardless of whether you work organic or paid, you will ultimately benefit from earned marketing. Earned marketing is user-generated content that turns your customers into a channel.
It is usually referred to as word of mouth. People express their love or dissatisfaction with your brand or product.
It can include product ratings on your website, social media mentions, video reviews, testimonials, blog posts, and more.
This type of marketing can help strengthen your credibility and trust. This can help consumers decide whether to use your products or not. Unfortunately, you don’t have much control and sometimes the user-generated content is negative.
It can also take some time for consumers to generate this type of content. In the end, it’s all worth it!
