Newmarket & Aurora, near the city, far from the hustle and bustle Home Renovation

With some home buyers priced outside of Toronto city center and limited availability, many are moving to the suburbs to find cheaper housing.

If you look north – to Newmarket and Aurora – you can actually make savings. You can also get more for your money in terms of larger properties and land for these prices.

It’s not just about paying less in Newmarket and Aurora, where closeness to nature, including the Oak Ridges Moraine, and expanding freeway and transit infrastructure make living here and working in Toronto or elsewhere in the GTA an attractive one Make an option.

New market

Newmarket is only seven kilometers north of Aurora with around 85,000 inhabitants and is very popular.

In a recent survey by the city, 95 percent of residents said they were happy with Newmarket as their home, and 80 percent were satisfied with the overall level of service.

“The feedback from the results of the community survey supports Newmarket’s reputation as one of the best places to live in Canada,” said Mayor John Taylor.

Indeed, in 2016 Newmarket was ranked in the top 25 municipalities in Canada and 14th among the best small towns. In 2017, Amazon Canada rated it number 20 in Canada’s 100 most romantic cities.

As with Aurora, the election changed Newmarket in 2018 when former Mayor Tony Van Bynen decided not to apply for reelection. John Taylor took over and made economy, business growth, community building and new housing development his top priorities.

Aurora

Aurora is located in the York region and is an increasingly popular and wealthy city. According to the 2016 census, the population here grew by 4.2 percent from 2011 to 55,445 – by the end of 2020, however, it is expected to grow to over 69,000.

With an average household income of over $ 155,000, Aurora is one of the richest cities, not only in the province, but throughout Canada.

What causes such growth? An increasingly diverse economic and business expansion that drives demand for residential property and rising prices.

Through all of this, Aurora was able to maintain a small town feel. In 2016, it was ranked as one of the 25 best places to live in Canada.

Nevertheless, the local elections in October 2018 changed Aurora. Tom Mrakas replaced the current Geoff Dawe and ran on a platform that revolves around housing and growth. He had said he wanted to make sure that better decisions about land use planning were made by the local appeals authority and by setting up a design review panel. He also intends to uphold the official plan and continue to defend golf course renovation and improve community infrastructure.
