The Registrar / Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Segun Ajiboye, insisted on Thursday that the council mobilized thousands of Nigerian teachers to attend a global online conference that focused on classroom customization the changes caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Ajiboye made this claim when he spoke to journalists in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
He said that the TRCN state offices mobilized teachers in their respective areas to keep them informed of the adaptive teaching model brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, Nigerian teachers are at the top of the over 50,000 who have signed up for the free global online conference.
He added that the conference, which starts on Saturday, May 30, 2020, should expose Nigerian teachers as part of the global knowledge transfer specialist and prepare them for the new reality in their work.
Ajiboye noted that the theme of the conference, “The New Normal for Teachers,” was aimed at sharing knowledge about how technology can be used to transform teachers in a new world that is evolving from the COVID-19 pandemic.
He explained that the knowledge gained from the global conference will give Nigerian teachers the opportunity to learn the new normal in their profession, compare notes and understand how they can deal with the current challenge of attending school in Nigeria due to the Pandemic has stopped.
“The T4Education conference is an international package that has been put together to address the COVID-19 pandemic and education issues, particularly teachers. The conference in Nigeria is coordinated by T4Education in Nigeria.
“The Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria has mobilized Nigerian teachers through its state offices to attend the online conference. He knew the relevance and potential of tackling new pandemic challenges.
“It is heartwarming to note that Nigerian teachers make up the majority of over 50,000 teachers who have registered for this conference worldwide. The conference will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2020. “
