Nigerian Breweries donates medical devices to UI
The Trust Fund for Education of the Nigerian Breweries and Felix Ohiwerei donated various medical training devices worth N 42 million to the College of Medicine at Ibadan University for the training of medical students.
This was announced on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 by the Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Jordi Borrut Bel.
While handing over the equipment to the College of Medicine, Bel praised the facility for the dedication of her team and the quality of her students’ education.
“Since the birth of civilization, the medical profession has remained one of the noblest and most respected professions in the world.
“Now more than ever, medical personnel play a key role in protecting our world from some of the worst viruses we have ever seen,” said Bel.
“We therefore have a collective duty to prepare the next generation of doctors for the future in the best possible way.
“For this reason, we continue to work to support the College of Medicine, the University of Ibadan and other educational institutions in providing high quality healthcare across Nigeria,” he added.
Prof. Olapade Olaopa praised the efforts of the company, the provost of the college, and praised NB Plc and the Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund for the kind gesture.
He noted that the equipment would help improve the quality of medical education in the facility and optimally influence medical students.
“We are very happy about the donation of these devices. This would make a huge contribution to providing our students with the training or capacity necessary to perform optimally in the medical profession.
“Without a doubt, this donation will continue to drive the dreams of making this college the best and preferred destination for aspiring medical students and boosting the morale of many of our students who want to compete globally with their colleagues in the profession,” said Olaopa.
The equipment donated includes a lung sound and auscultation trainer, a blood pressure measurement trainer, a lumbar puncture and epidural simulator, a pediatric IV hand simulator, a pediatric lumbar puncture simulator II and a rectal examination trainer MK.
Others include: Keele & Staff Episiotomy Repair Trainer, a breast drainage and needle decompression trainer, an airway suction trainer, an abdominal ultrasound examination trainer, an ultrasound vascular access trainer and a SimMom birthing simulator.
