May Pinterest Challenge – Veranda & Patio DIY

May Pinterest Challenge

I am very happy to be able to take part in the May Pinterest Challenge – Porch & Patio Highway 407. This month the challenge is accepted by this beautiful veranda Bria Hemmel Interiors. This would be a dream come true for most of us.

Since I don’t have a veranda, just a staircase in front of the front door, I share my terrace. This is one of my favorite spaces outside and I love to keep changing the decor to make this a welcoming and inviting space. If you come from Yvonne @ Stone gable, welcome. I’m sure you were as inspired by your porch as I was. She is such a talented designer and I love her style.

The first thing first when we bought this house was adding a pool to the back yard one of my first wishes. The pool dig started just a few months after we moved in. It was an exciting day when the excavation took place. You can see all the details of the build in this post.

The terrace was not loved during the pool construction, but only became a garbage dump for all construction work.

Once the pool was in, I put everything from our previous home on the terrace, not very stylish, but at least it was a start and a clean space to relax.

By adding a few curtains on the back and sun protection on the front of the terrace, a “room” was created. This gives us a lot of shade and a cozy place to sit and relax and to enjoy the view of the pool. I love changing furniture and accessories on a whim. We recently got some new white pillows and carpets. This makes changing our facility even easier.

Our inspiration picture used blue on the porch, I used blue and yellow for my decor. Plaid and flowers always mix well. A small coffee table holds a lantern for the nightly ambient lighting and still offers space for a drink or a snack.

I would like to replace the two sofas with a sectional sofa, but they work wonderfully for now, so that is at the bottom of my wish list.

We enjoy this area so much. In the evening we can sit here and enjoy the cool breeze or sit and relax after a swim. The kitchen is located directly behind the sliding door and is perfect for a snack or a favorite drink. A snack plate and a glass of wine are my favorite ways to enjoy this space.

Of course, one of the best features of the terrace is that it has the perfect view of the pool. It doesn’t get any better.

I had fun creating my version of the May Pinterest Challenge – Porch & Patio. Next on tour is Christy @ Our southern home. Christy’s Southern Home has a fabulous porch that is beautiful. You will love how beautifully it decorates it in every season. Check out all the other links below. I am sure you will find plenty of inspiration.
