I’m back with another bedroom renovation. I had talked about adding stencils to this chest of drawers, but discarded the plan because it would have been too busy for such a small space. Instead, I got the idea to make the chest of drawers glow with age.
Below you can see what the chest of drawers looked like before.
Disclosure: I was compensated for making this post with a product. However, all opinions given here are my own. I only use products that I love and that I would recommend to my viewers.
. This was a fairly simple revision. The chest of drawers originally belonged to my husband and when we got married I painted it white. Of course, I used oil paint at the time – you know the type that drips everywhere. .
I tried sanding it down a bit to see if I could get the top back to its natural wood state, but it turned out to be harder than my grinder. As I mentioned in this post, I decided to hug my inner farmhouse myself and just went along.
Believe it or not, that look has really grown on me. The worn top really reflects the history of this old thing. And I think I owe him some respect. .
When it was time to do something with this chest of drawers, I felt that a few changes were all it took. In this case, I added these beautiful nickel-based glass buttons D. Lawless and Co. were generous enough to take care of me.
They add just the right amount of shine without compromising the beauty of the age. It’s definitely vintage, if not older.
I just sanded a few spots to make it look a little more worn out. This keyhole had been hiding under the paint all the time. What a nice surprise!
And this is my dresser with no makeover. Simple and oh so easy with just the right amount of bling!
Some things should be left alone … for the most part!
I have also added this glass bowl and am now using it to hang my dangling earrings. Another super simple idea!
You can see all of the projects I’ve done so far at the end of this post.
After this chest of drawers is done and the two mid century pieces are done, I’m almost done with this room. Just a few more things to take care of.
I hope you enjoyed this simple revision. You see, you don’t always have to go overboard for your vintage chest of drawers to sparkle with age. Just a few changes and the job is done!
Make sure you go to D. Lawless to see the huge selection of buttons and hooks.
