The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) has signed a five-year contract with Morgan State University, USA, according to which almost 50 doctoral and post-doctoral students from Nigeria’s public universities are to attend the university each year.
TETfund announced this on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
In the words of TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Suleiman E. Bogoro: “TETFund is pleased to secure a worthy partnership with Morgan State University through the recently signed letter of intent that reflects a new paradigm in TETFund. geared towards the content development of more than 220 public (federal and state-owned) universities in Nigeria. “
Bogoro said the development would develop human capital that would play a big role in the country’s path to growth.
“We appreciate the mutual respect and understanding between the leadership of both institutions in realizing this historic and special agreement.
“We look forward to the future of shared opportunities between TETFund and Morgan to meet human capital development, exchange programs, infrastructure and the overall economic development goals of Nigeria and the United States,” he added.
For his part, President of Morgan State University (MSU) David Wilson said that such an academic presence is the way to improve a nation’s quality of life.
“Morgan offers a first class education and we are delighted to have this opportunity to partner with Nigeria to produce intellectual capital that will help the nation achieve its goals.
“This partnership creates a framework in which faculties and staff from the 238 public universities, teacher training colleges and technical colleges in Nigeria, doctoral students and technical colleges can continue their doctorate. and postdoctoral research at Morgan in areas and disciplines relevant to Nigeria’s development needs, ”he added.
Part of TETfund’s responsibility is to support research projects at various universities.
