Our new Meet the Maker video is here! We have a nice short film for you this week in which you can get to know Autumn Fussell (also known as Dottie Angel) from Curious and Coe! Autumn has been a friend of Loop for years. He taught at Loop in both our London store and our New York popup, and designed the Rosemaling Mitts that adorn the cover of our 10th anniversary book. We hope you enjoy this look into her incredibly inspiring world and her studio and hear her story. And read on, we have a sample from the newly released Make number 9!
Blogging began in the fall when she first moved to Washington in 2000. She fell in love with Etsy the first time because it gave her a platform for her creativity. She started blogging at around the same time that the two seemed to be walking hand in hand, and then Dottie Angel was born with all her fabulous bohemian outfits!
The idea for Autumn’s famous “wool tattoos” came about when she took a job in a local yarn store (Tolt yarn and wool!) and wanted to be able to use all colors and fibers, but she wasn’t quite a knitter. Taking her knowledge of embroidery after being inspired by a Japanese book, she set off with wool!
The wool tattoos of autumn can be found in our Loop 10 book for the 10th anniversary! your Rosemaling gloves are on the cover!
Autumn now owns and runs the Curious Atelier with her youngest son in Carnation, Washington. The studio is not open at the moment, but if you are going to be there in the future you should pay a visit to Autumn! It’s a beautiful shop and gallery space that you can see in our Meet the Maker video. autumn Online shop for the Curious Atelier is open and full of goodies!
We have so many wonderful threads and wool for you at Loop that you can start your own “wool tattoo” as well as Japanese Embroidery books. We have replenished ours Teinture Sauvage Thread sets so you can get started! Mini strands are also perfect for wool tattoos, and we’ve just received more gorgeous minis from The little gray sheep!
We are also working with Autumn on a kit for their crochet and wool tattoo creatures “Somebunny” and hope to have them ready in early autumn. So look at this room as well as Curious and Coe.
