Music can calm the soul …
7. Listen to music. Music has an amazing ability to change the mood. Think of a few songs that will put you in a mood that you would rather feel. Listen! If you don’t have these songs available right now, YouTube has almost every song available for free.
8. Chewing gum. Sounds crazy I know! Chewing gum was shown to be an effective reducer of cortisol, the primary stress hormone. Lots of people also enjoy blowing bubbles. You can lower your stress levels and enjoy yourself at the same time.
9. Sit outside in the sun. On a beautiful day, relax for a few minutes and soak up the sun. The warmth in your body can improve your mood, and you also get a nice dose of vitamin D. Now that the weather is getting better, I’ve got my hammock out and lay in it every day!
10. Write down anything that worries you. One way to be less stressed and anxious is to write down everything that bothers you. Get it out of your system and on paper. Often times when you externalize it you will find that things are not quite as bad as you thought they were.
I have a diary that I write regularly. It has helped me relax, resolve my problems, ventilate when I am angry … it has been a lifesaver for a few days!
