Everything dressed and nowhere
With a global pandemic and orders staying at home, concern about our looks has understandably subsided. In one fell swoop we wore the same sweatpants for the third time this week.
Don’t worry, I’m just as guilty.
As an optimist, I decided that if I wanted to maintain a certain level of self-confidence, I should continue to do what makes me healthy. For the past 6 weeks during quarantine, I have made it a habit of hosting a digital happy hour about every Friday my Instagram.
To put it bluntly, I don’t do it to maintain my social clout. Getting dressed on Friday has brought back a touch of normalcy to my life that I would never have taken for granted. A routine that helped me start my day with confidence had been taken away, and to be honest I felt weird without it.
By putting it on again I was able to use my wardrobe better. Every week I challenged myself to combine different pieces of clothing that I might not otherwise have worn together. It was refreshing and I encourage others to try it.
Hosting this happy hour gave me the freedom to get in touch with some of the HSS readers. I am humble about the continued group of gentlemen who come to me every week and send me pictures of their appearance with the cocktail in hand.
I look forward to continuing this Friday tradition. If you are interested, join me over my Instagram every Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.
