SEO basics for beginners

Try these basics to get started with SEO: Search Engine Optimization. This way your website can get to the top when people search for topics like yours!

WordPress is SEO friendly

Make it easy for yourself from the start – start your blog on one WordPress website.

It is easy for search engines to crawl and update for you as you deliver the new content that Google likes to see.

Go WordPress!

Choose keywords carefully

When you write for your website, you want to be sure that keywords They use the same search terms that your potential visitors use.

They are not looking for “sports shoes”, but for “Nike running shoes”. Use the Google AdWord tool to see what people are really looking for. Or ask your audience!

Note: When people say “keyword” they really mean it Keyword phrase.

I could try to rank for “SEO”, but it could take a lifetime. The longer phrases are easier to evaluate, especially if you are just starting out.

With 9,990 searches per month, the “SEO basics” are pleasant for my established blog. If you’re just getting started, you can search for phrases that are well below 1,000 searches a month.

Use the main keyword in the title and URL

The most powerful SEO comes from using your Keyword phrase in the title and URL of your post – it is a must! And having it in the beginning has the greatest impact.

You may be using some descriptors in the title and / or heading that you can edit from the URL. For example, check the URL of this post.

Note that WordPress gives you numbers for the URL of your post by default. Make sure you change this under Settings -> Permalinks.

I’m using the custom structure “/% post_id% /% postname%”. Whatever you use, you want to be sure that it is Use your keyword phrase instead of meaningless numbers.

Use keywords in headings, text and meta description

Sometimes bloggers have a great title and then write a talkative article that doesn’t even use the keyword. Now Google couldn’t be Really sure what your article is about!

I like to use the keyword phrase at the beginning and end of the article.

I’ll also use it in a heading if it makes sense. Headings are a great place to find related keywords that apply to this section of your article.

It is very important to have a readable article. If you use the keyword ZU too often, Google will punish you for filling keywords. superior quality of the article over amount of keywords.

And don’t forget to use your keywords in the meta description, which you can add through a plugin like All In One SEO or Yoast SEO.

Use keywords in names and alt tags for images

I have to say, I think this helped me a lot. Some of my posts contain a lot of images, and I name them with hyphen-separated keywords (example: Basic SEO beginners).

Also use the alt tag, which is read by the search engines even though they cannot “see” the picture.

Remember that alt tags are primarily for the visually impaired. While it’s great to find a keyword there, make sure you describe what’s in the picture.

For me this is often something like “Alt-Text-Screenshot” or “SEO-Basics-Header-Bild”.

You can easily add this in WordPress by uploading your picture to Alternative text.

Link your pages

If you have relevant information on another page or another post on your website, link it with the keywords suitable for the linked article as anchor text of the link.

A quick and easy way to do this is the WordPress plug-in, another plugin for related posts. However, contextual links in the body are most effective. So try to use them when you mention something you wrote about elsewhere.

SEO = keyword research

Keyword research is one of the most important aspects of search engine optimization. When you write your content, be it a blog post, website content, or product descriptions for your business, it cannot be stressed enough that you should research what keywords you use.

By using tools like Google advertisingyou can search for words related to your product or company and see what terms are searched for.

For example, if your company sells chairs, type “buy chairs” in AdWords and you’ll find information about what people are looking for in connection with buying chairs.

You can see how many people searched for which term and which keywords are the most popular. Use these keywords on your website to increase traffic almost immediately.

SEO = optimization of your website

After you’ve started optimizing your existing content, it’s time to optimize your website and shop.

There are a variety of online tools that you can use to scan your website and return functionality information. This includes broken links, errors and duplicate pages.

Correcting links improves the usability of your website and your SEO ranking tenfold overall.

It’s also a great idea to deal with Your website speed.

Users don’t want to wait for loading. If it takes longer than 7 to 10 seconds to load your website homepage, it’s time to shrink or shrink images and rearrange your layouts.

SEO = creating blog content

This means creating engaging and informative content that your readers will enjoy reading or will feel better about. You can try to write these blog posts yourself, OR use the large network of professional writers that can save you the hassle. Many of them will have fast turnaround times and also have basic SEO writing skills. You can find and hire these professional authors on the following websites:

How small businesses can improve local search engine optimization

Are you wondering about local SEO?

If you want to promote your local small business to local customers, you’ve come to the right place!

There is plenty of advice for large companies looking to dominate search results across the country. Here is the primer for small businesses who just want to be known in their area!

In this section we cover:

  • Create a small budget
  • Working with influencers
  • Update your Google listing
  • Receive customer reviews
  • Optimize social media

SEO is no longer a tool to land on the first page of Google nationwide, but an important way to get in touch with the audience regardless of size and reach.

While small businesses searched for local SEO strategies, Google emphasized the importance of the neighborhood and developed best practices for smaller businesses. Find out how they can work together to improve the Internet and help your business.

Local SEO image

Create a test budget for SEM

While you may not think of them at first, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) can work together to lower your overall marketing costs and drive traffic to your pages.

For example, SEM managers can lower bids on pages that already get a lot of organic SEO traffic and focus their budget on campaigns that don’t work as well or get as much attention. In the meantime, SEO teams can examine keyword performance and find ways to optimize and improve it.

At the local level SEM is not as expensive as it seems.

Brands don’t have to bid at national level for terms like “running shoes” where budget is tight within minutes. Instead, they can limit their radius so that they only bid in areas for which their company operates.

For example, if they deliver pizzas to customers 15 miles from their location, they can limit the bid to that distance.

In addition, companies can too Bid on more favorable terms by doing it locally. The term “running shoes Tulsa” does not cost as much as the generic term and limits search traffic to people in your area.

To implement your SEM campaign, set aside a small daily or monthly test budget – you can insert these caps into Google Adwords – and test a few campaigns to see what you can learn.

Find influencers you can work with in your area

Find influencers you can work with in your area

Bloggers, news anchors and journalists generally have a high degree of attraction in their communities. They are often seen as celebrities who are the first to know about upcoming events and city trends.

The partnership with these influencers not only creates enthusiasm and good media attention for your brand, but also leads to links that promote your local SEO.

Start by identifying the top 20 influencers in your community. This list could include pastors from the church, the mayor, and nonprofit groups in the region.

Then rate their online presence and look for ways to create links to your website.

For example, invite Community blogger to spend a day in your shop. Your readers will enjoy the insight while you will enjoy the backlinks.

This process also helps you get involved in your neighborhood, which means more people will look for opportunities when you become an influencer yourself.

Update your entries in Google

Update your entries in Google

If you haven’t already done so, make sure you’re claiming your business Google My Business and set up multiple pages for each of your company locations.

With Google My Business you can Control your digital footprint – at least in the Google search results – by uploading descriptions, opening times, photos and contact information for your company.

Through these efforts, Google receives all the information the search engine needs to highlight your brand in local search lists – including Google’s local 3-pack search results – and provides your customers with the right information about your business.

Updating all of this information on Google serves several purposes.

First, more customers can access your website if Google highlights them in local listings. Increased traffic and customer experience prove to search engines that your website is useful and should be highlighted more often.

In the meantime, the hours and instructions will help employees find your company and contact your employees with questions.

Use customer ratings for content and SEO

There are strict Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines for companies that collect fake reviews and pay customers in exchange for good reviews, but the premise is actually quite simple: Ask customers to leave reviews, but don’t try to influence them one way or the other. Your quality product and customer service should be all you need to win them over.

Customer review sites on Yelp and other third party websites can increase awareness and drive traffic to your sites. Another one One star bump in Yelp can increase your sales by almost 10 percent.

However, you do not have to limit the ratings to external websites. Many companies turn to customers and ask for permission to post ratings or testimonials on their websites. Some companies specifically send surveys to customers to take advantage of this feedback and take advantage of these offers.

If you want Improve the content of your websiteOne of the easiest ways is to use word-of-mouth marketing for customer reviews.

Optimize social media channels for new customers

Optimize social media for new customers

Social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are becoming increasingly important tools for companies looking for new customers. All of these channels propose brands or accounts to customers, while Facebook encourages users to post reviews and answer questions about the company when they check in.

Instead of attracting customers and asking them to follow you on social media, companies today are gaining fans on social media and hoping to turn them into customers.

To achieve this result Make sure all of your social profiles clearly explain what your company is doing and link to your website. These efforts reduce ambiguity when people see your brand and help drive traffic to your website.

In the next section, learn how social media affects SEO.

Local SEO conclusion

Local search engine optimization does not have to be a difficult or complex undertaking for companies. All they have to do is use the tools at their disposal and find out which strategies work best for their company.

In many cases, your efforts are trial and error. However, as long as business owners keep learning, their businesses should continue to drive more traffic and links – leading to customers – to their websites.

That’s the nice thing Local SEO!
