UPDATE: AILA REPORTS VSC OPEN – ORIGINAL POST: AILA reports that the USCIS Vermont Service Center will be temporarily closed on April 10, 2020 due to COVID19 Immigration

“Last week, USCIS informed employees of a suspected positive COVID-19 case at the Vermont Service Center (VSC), but the test results were negative. The VSC can now accept files and / or any other form of correspondence. “

“AILA has received reports from various members that the Vermont Service Center (VSC) has been closed due to a possible COVID-19 exposure.

VSC is expected to be closed for cleaning at least until Wednesday, April 15, 2020. During this time, it seems that no emails can be delivered to the VSC. AILA National has contacted USCIS for confirmation and further guidance on how to handle filings in the meantime. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. “

On behalf of me and other immigration lawyers in the United States: Our prayers are with the VSC staff. The volume of complex cases that they evaluate and judge every day is underestimated, as is the crucial importance of their work. We hope this problem will be resolved soon and VSC employees are safe.
