14 Tips for combating morning sickness tested by mothers Babycare

Morning sickness sucks.

And the term “morning sickness” is somewhat misleading because it is this terrible nausea that can occur at any time of the day, not just in the morning.

If you are among the unfortunate 60% of women who suffer from morning sickness (source) it can make things really miserable.

If you are, we have put together a list of things you can do to make it easier to use.

Pregnancy can be an amazing time. But morning sickness? Not as much. It can be terrible to deal with. The term “morning sickness” can be a little misleading because some mothers experience it all day or evening, not just in the morning.

Unfortunately, there is almost no way to avoid this, but you can take some measures to make it more bearable or to prevent it.

1. Drink some carbonated drink.

It’s the perfect excuse to have a fizzy drink: it can only help with nausea.

Make sure you have a non-caffeinated drink like Sprite, Ginger Ale, or 7-Up. A personal favorite of mine is mineral water with a little lemon or lime. No calories and tastes good.

And don’t drink too fast, because it will fill you up quickly and make you gassy. Not good.

2. Stay hydrated.

It seems like an enormous effort to drink 8 glasses of water a day, especially if you have to pee just as often a day during pregnancy.

But it just so happens that dehydration can make nausea worse. And since you vomit, you lose a lot of fluid, which makes you more dehydrated.

3. Try lemon water.

Lemons can be a great remedy for morning sickness. Simply press a lemon into the water, mix and drink! You will be surprised how well it works! Try using bubbly water, as mentioned above, to get some of the bubbly satisfaction you may crave.

4. Get some fresh air outside.

If you are stuffed all day in the house, fresh air can work wonders.

Take a short walk outdoors or just sit on the porch for a while. Opening a window or switching on the air conditioning can help.

5. Be careful with your electronic devices.

You may think that distracting yourself with your phone or TV is helpful, but in reality the bright light and undetectable strobe effect may make you nauseous.

Eye strain can also make it worse. To counteract this, look away from the screen for about 20 seconds every 20 minutes. You can also enlarge fonts on the computer or adjust the brightness of the screen.

6. Drink some ginger (tea!)

If you feel like you are feeling sick, suck on a ginger candy or drink some ginger tea: it is a well-known natural nausea drug that can work wonders.

It is a common misconception that ginger ale has ginger. Don’t be fooled, because it doesn’t.

7. Try nausea pressure tape.

Although there is actually no proven scientific reason why these would work, many women absolutely swear by it.

These bands are worn tight around the wrist and aim at a pressure point that relieves nausea.

8. Distract yourself.

Distracting yourself with an activity like a game, sudoku puzzle, book, or TV show can be a relief when you feel bad. You can even try taking a short walk.

But if it makes you feel uncomfortable, it is probably a good sign to stop because it may only make it worse.

9. Make sure you get enough sleep and take a nap during the day.

Sometimes nausea occurs simply because you need to rest a little. Shoot to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night (which, by the way, is a good amount of sleep for you, even if you are Not pregnant.)

If you feel uncomfortable during the day, a short 15-minute nap can make a big difference if you feel the disease creep in.

10. Eat smaller meals throughout the day.

Instead of eating large meals, try eating smaller meals and snacks throughout the day.

Morning sickness is often the worst when your stomach is empty. So if you always have something in it, this can help. Protein-rich and carbohydrate-rich snacks are the best option: almonds, pretzels, bread, crackers, etc.

High-fat and fatty foods can make nausea worse. Choose your meals carefully.

11. Eat a snack as soon as you wake up.

It can be an excellent idea to have some bedtime snacks with # 7 as soon as you wake up in the morning. Eating a few almonds or crackers (slowly!) In the morning can make a big contribution to fighting nausea.

12. Identify which smells make it worse – and avoid them.

In pregnant mothers, some smells can trigger nausea immediately.

If you can determine what smells do for you, try to avoid them. A good tactic is to try to cook and sleep in a well-ventilated area.

13. Lie down.

When you feel terribly nauseous, sometimes just lying down can make a big difference.

Go to bed, close your eyes and take a deep breath.

14. As a last resort, consider taking medication.

There are a number of prescription and non-prescription drugs on the market that can severely affect your nausea. However, you should always check with your doctor before taking any of them, as some of them are not safe from pregnancy.

If you’re dealing with nasty morning sickness and nothing else seems to help, don’t be ashamed to turn to medication as you don’t have to suffer.
