Zilker Botanical Garden
the very Hungry Caterpillar has found its way into the hearts of generations of readers and has become a staple of bookshelves in households and classrooms across the country. Since its publication in 1969, almost 50 million copies of the very Hungry Caterpillar have been sold worldwide and published in over 62 languages. Today, every 30 seconds, somewhere in the world, a copy of the very Hungry Caterpillar is sold. To celebrate this golden anniversary, zoos, botanical gardens, libraries, museums and restaurants are being held interactively across the country Very hungry caterpillar Experience.
Crawl into the Zilker Botanical Garden until March 22nd to celebrate the 50th birthday of the very Hungry Caterpillar, the classic children’s book by Eric Carle! A special exhibition creates the book through a larger-than-life story tour so that children and their families can read through the exhibition.
Costs: Free when entering the garden
There are plenty of photo ops during the exhibition and families are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the garden’s Oak Grove right next to it! Be sure to use the hashtag # VHC50Zilker if you share your photos online.
The Kleberg in the ZACH Theater
Until April 26th The very hungry Caterpillar show celebrates the most famous caterpillar in the world and a menagerie of animal friends. The little ones will be amazed when they recite Eric Carle’s favorite classics Brown bear, brown bear; 10 small rubber ducks; and The Very Lonely Firefly, Each story is brought to life by a series of faithful dolls that enchant and engage both adults and children as they jump onto the stage from the side. Tickets from $ 19.
