For me, hyaluronic acid is one of the most important things you could have in your skin care routine, as people tend to downplay the benefits of hydration. Properly hydrated skin is plump, radiant youthful looking skin that everyone seems to be striving for these days.
What is it?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a large sugar molecule known as “polysaccharide” that is made from repeating subunits. The main uses of hyaluronic acid are moisturizers. HA is a humectant, which means it has the ability to draw moisture to itself.
HA comes in two forms: low provides moisture to the surface of the skin and high, which can be absorbed by the skin into the epidermis.
What does it do
HA moisturizes the skin and has a rather plump effect with mature skin types with age. We tend to lose our hyaluronic acid stores. Hyaluronic acid is also ideal for dry skin, as there are often superficial lines of dehydration that can be filled in and smoothed with HA.
HA is probably one of the few ingredients that you can see results with instantly.
How to use it
I tend to use it in both my AM and PM routine as you can never have too much fluid. Hyaluronic acid is usually applied immediately after cleaning, as it can be used as a penetration enhancer for your later serums. You will find that your products work better with hydrated skin.

When will I see results?
With HA you will see results immediately, but with continued use you will find that your skin is more evenly hydrated. HA is not something you have to wait months for. You will often notice immediately that your skin feels much more plump and hydrated.
