There is this television series that I saw online about operations that went wrong. The show shows cases of patients who had plastic surgery that went wrong and who were looking for a reconstructive surgery for this group of doctors. Most of the cases presented in the series are mistreated cases of the previous ones plastic surgeon that made the procedure and eventually facial deformities became apparent.
When I first reacted, I was shocked at how a person was ridiculed emotionally and physically by the public. People who are in a way not judgmental can sometimes be rude because if you see someone on the street who looks strange or has something else, especially in their facial structure, you will take a look and take that second look, without knowing what happened.
After watching an episode, I did some readings and learned more.
What is plastic surgery?
Cosmetic surgery: focuses on improving the appearanceThe procedures, techniques, and principles of cosmetic surgery focus solely on improving a patient’s appearance. The main goals are to improve aesthetics, symmetry and proportions. Aesthetic surgery can be performed on all areas of the head, neck and body. Because cosmetic procedures treat areas that work properly, cosmetic surgery is referred to as an elective. Cosmetic dialing is carried out by doctors from various medical fields, including plastic surgeons.Types of procedures of cosmetic surgery:
- Breast augmentation: breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction
- Face contouring: nose correction, chin or cheek improvement
- Facial rejuvenation: face lift, eyelid lift, neck lift, eyebrow lift
- Body shaping: tummy tuck, liposuction, gynecomastia treatment
- Skin rejuvenation: laser resurfacing, Botox®, filler treatments
What is plastic surgery?
Plastic surgery: focuses on repairing defects to restore normal function and appearancePlastic surgery is a surgical specialty dedicated to the reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns and diseases. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and, by definition, is of a reconstructive nature. While many plastic surgeons opt for additional training and cosmetic surgery, the basis of their surgical training remains reconstructive plastic surgery. In fact, in 1999 the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons changed its name to American Society of plastic surgeons To communicate more strongly about the message that “plastic and reconstructive surgeons are one and the same”. ¹Types of plastic surgery procedures:
- Congenital defect repair: cleft palate, limb defect repair
- Reconstruction of the lower extremities

Cleft palate deformity (e.g. plastic surgery)
The scope that a patient can use when considering a plastic surgery procedure:
- Increase self-confidence and self-esteem
- Improve appearance
- Young looking and positive attitude to life
Is plastic surgery safe? This could be the main factor for a patient who wants to undergo surgery.
Surgery can go wrong and be unsafe if you bend the rules in medicine.
Always note the following during operations:
Consult a licensed doctor will do your procedure. This will be the main factor for a successful operation. A professional plastic surgeon studied thoroughly and experienced his specialization.
Study the process You need to know what and how the surgery will be done on you. Knowing the procedure can give you an idea and possibly the key to quick recovery.
Financial possibilitiesAn operation means costs. The doctor’s fees, the hospital stay and also the days of your recovery.
Support for family and friends When someone undergoes medical delivery and surgery, support from family and friends is an essential part of recovery. If you go through the healing phase and are back on the right track once you have been checked in and discharged in hospital, the support of your family or friends is required. You won’t be able to drive alone if you are discharged from the hospital or if you come by the house, all bandages and medication will help.
Make a firm decision! You cannot ask the doctor to stop in the middle of the procedure because you change your mind even though you are under anesthesia. 🙂
