After taking a look at the history books, compliance consultant and football enthusiast Paul Miller has put together his all-time insurance XI.
You can see below who created the team sheet and why!
Manuel Neuer: Insured his hands with Lloyd’s for $ 4.3 million.
William Ponting: Lloyd’s broker who played for Southampton from 1897. A Southern League winner.
Charles Bambridge: Lloyd’s Underwriter, who played for Upton Park, Clapham Rovers and England in the 19th century.
Steve Turner: Senior partner at AJ Gallagher. Won the FA vase in 1984.
Ditmar Jakobs: Second with Germany in the 1986 World Cup final. Now insurance broker in Hamburg.
David Beckham: Insured his legs at Lloyd’s for £ 100m at Real Madrid.
Robert Ogilvie: Chairman of the Institute of Lloyd’s Underwriters from 1910 to 1911. Won the FA Cup with Clapham Rovers in 1880.
Trevor Brooking: Was a “name” at Lloyd’s in the late 80s and early 90s.
Cristiano Ronaldo: Also insured his legs at Lloyd’s for £ 100m.
Lionel Messi: Overtook Ronaldo and Becks by covering his legs at Lloyd’s for 750 million euros.
