Many parents worry that Disneyland doesn’t have enough rides and attractions for babies and toddlers, but this California theme park has entertainment for all ages. The best part? The whole family can enjoy most of these activities together. As a Disneyland enthusiast and former passport holder of several years, I visited the happiest place in the world with my two children several times. Here is a list of my favorites for the 12 best Disneyland attractions and rides for toddlers and babies.

1. Dumbo the flying elephant in fantasyland

Everyone loves Dumbo, the flying elephant – especially babies, toddlers and preschoolers! The riders float through the air on the back of magical pachyderms. There is something very sweet and exhilarating about experiencing Dumbo with young children. I therefore recommend starting the day here.

2. It is a small world in fantasyland

It is worth having the cute song from Small World in your head all day long so that your child feels a smile on this ride. You also get a big return (an 8 minute drive) for your small investment (usually a short wait in line). As a travel lover, the little trip around the world has a special place in my heart.

3. Peter Pan’s flight to Fantasyland

Peter Pan’s flight, one of the original Disneyland rides, remains one of the park’s most popular rides for a reason. Drivers feel like they are flying over the rooftops of London with The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up and his fairy buddy Tinkerbell on board a pirate ship. Many of the dark rides in Fantasyland can be scary for toddlers and babies. So I recommend trying the less intimidating and quirkier Peter Pan’s flight before trying others. Queue for this attraction early in the day to minimize long waits.

4. Minnie’s house in Mickey’s Toontown

When your family gets tired of waiting in line, this walk-in attraction offers an interactive experience for children. Minnie’s House is particularly suitable for toddlers and preschoolers, as it is designed in bright colors and with numerous buttons and dials.

5. Jungle cruise in Adventure Land

Adults will laugh (or groan) at the humorous commentary from the adventure guides aboard a jungle cruise. As for the kids, I remember actually going to Africa and back when I was 4 when I made this trip on my first trip to Walt Disney World. This classic Disneyland ride is a great choice for the whole family to enjoy together.

6. The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Critter Country

This colorful ride is one of my children’s favorites! Winnie the Pooh’s many adventures are hidden in Critter Country, and you can usually go straight on without having to wait in long lines. Bonus: You can often meet Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and other friends from the Hundred Acre Forest at a character hangout near the exit.

7. Pixar Pal-A-Round at Pixar Pier from Disney California Adventure

This giant ferris wheel was formerly the sun wheel and later Mickey’s Fun Wheel and offers a great aerial view of the park. Each Pixar Pal-A-Round gondola is decorated with a picture of a beloved Disney • Pixar movie character. Look out for Woody, Buzz, Dory, Nemo, Mr. Incredible, Joy, Sadness, Lightning McQueen and others. Those suffering from motion sickness should skip the long lines for the swinging, more frightening gondolas and opt for the fixed ones. This is the only ride that makes it onto this list of the best attractions and rides for babies and toddlers AND our list of the scariest rides in Disneyland. Ironically, we know!

Disneyland Railroad ~ Best Disneyland rides and attractions for babies and toddlers

8. Disneyland Railroad

I have never met a small child who is not fascinated by Choo-Choo trains! You can hop on and off the Disneyland Railroad on Main Street USA, Tomorrowland, Mickey’s Toontown or New Orleans Square. The best part is the “surprise” trip through the Grand Canyon and the primeval world (a scene of animatronic dinosaurs) between Tomorrowland and Main Street.

Enchanted Tiki Room ~ Best Disneyland rides and attractions for babies and toddlers

9. The enchanted tiki room in the adventure land

Birds and flowers serenade you at this pleasant indoor show where you can’t stay in the sun (or rain). Rest in the Enchanted Tiki Room while the baby is breastfeeding or drinking a bottle. Beware of a short, somewhat scary tropical “thunderstorm” at the end of the show.

10. Alice in Wonderland in Fantasyland

If your child did well on Peter Pan’s flight, try the second most joyful Fantasyland Dark Ride. Hop aboard an oversized caterpillar to take a trip through the White Rabbit’s house, Tulgey Wood, and the Queen’s Garden. Parts of the trip wander through nature and leave the “creepy” dark factor behind. Some children may find the queen “screaming away with her heads!” a little intimidating, but a happy birthday party, silly characters and bright colors raise the mood.

11. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind at Disney California Adventure’s Pixar Pier

A beetle land at Disney California Adventure Park used to be one of the best places for babies and toddlers in Disneyland, with four cute rides aimed at young guests. This area was decommissioned to make room for a “Super Hero” country that is slated to open in 2020 and offers new attractions that appeal to older park visitors. However, families can see a reinterpretation of a drive through the Beetle Land. Similar to Flik’s Flyer, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is a ring-shaped flight. Opened in 2019, this ride turns riders in gentle circles in baskets that depend on “core memory” balls From the inside to the outside. It is definitely a joyful ride for toddlers and babies.

12.King Arthur’s Carrousel in Fantasyland or Jessie’s Critter Carousel on Pixar Pier from Disney California Adventure

Most little ones love a carousel. Youngsters mount King Arthur’s classic hand-carved horses in Fantasyland. It may be a boring choice for adults, but not for children!

Meanwhile, in the Disney California Adventure Park, the carousel under King Triton’s sea level was closed and replaced by Jessie’s Critter Carousel. This yodel section was opened in 2019 and offers wilderness lovers from the “Woody’s Summary” TV show in Toy Story 2,

Disneyland with babies and toddlers is magical

Why visit Disneyland with babies and toddlers

Before I took my daughter to Disneyland to celebrate her first birthday, some well-meaning friends warned, “It is better to wait until she is 5 or 6. What is the point of taking her now? She will not even remember it “But when I was holding my birthday child in my arms as we flew through the air on Dumbo ‘s back, grinning and clapping her hands and baring her two teeth, I knew that this moment was important. Even if she doesn’t remember it, she and I were happy for that time.
