9 fun and educational activities for kids on vacation Family Travel

Time to read

Take some time to read every day and encourage reading for the whole family, even if only a short time is really worth it.

This is something I want to do more with my own family, as I am ashamed to say that I cannot remember the last book that I read for pleasure. On parents’ evenings I always say to parents, if nothing else is outside of school, reading has priority. Even if it only takes 5 minutes and only the pictures are discussed, it is more effective than you think.

“There is evidence that children who read for pleasure every day not only achieve better reading results than those who do not, but also develop a broader vocabulary, more general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. In fact, reading is a pleasure rather to determine whether a child is doing well in school as their social or economic background “

If you have magazines and brochures lying around, ask the children to get their sticky notes and write captions as you leaf through the magazine. When children are exposed to words and letters frequently, they can better understand and remember the relationships and forms of letters.

Don’t forget it’s your vacation too!

Do not be afraid to leave for a few days with nothing planned and be spontaneous, or give the children a selection of ideas from things they have already experienced and let them decide whether they are old enough. In my own experience, children love being able to choose, and this, in turn, gives them the opportunity to do the day’s activities and will really deepen their engagement and interest!

In my experience, your family vacation will benefit enormously if you keep up with a range of activities, and of course you will also have some quiet time to enjoy your vacation!
