Only 4,359 of the 19,482 candidates who applied for undergraduate studies at the University of Ibadan (UI) had been admitted.

The University Senate approved the provisional admission of students for the 2019/2020 academic session on Friday.

UI Deputy Chancellor Idowu Olayinka, who chaired the Emergency Senate meeting, said 4,100 of these numbers had been processed through JAMB, while approximately 3,709 had paid the admission fee. The figure does not show that the UI has exhausted all admissions quotas for freshmen that have been communicated to it by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

At the national level, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has determined in recent years that universities generally do not exhaust their admission rate.

In 2018, more than 350,000 available places were not used by universities in Nigeria.

In fact, regardless of the available alternatives, some qualified candidates insist on taking certain courses.

Details of UI admission decision by in Ibadan said that while 19,482 participants took the Post-UTME exam at Ibadan University, 12,450 participants achieved 50 percent or more and received course credits to select the best applicants.

The institution’s Senate announced that it would continue to maintain flawless and flawless admission procedures.
